Reflexology is a safe, natural therapy. It is a good way of relaxing, rebalancing and harmonising the body. You don’t have to be stressed to have Reflexology and as a very relaxing therapy, it provides time for you, your body, and your mind to relax and watch the world go by.
Reflexology Aftercare
- Always drink plenty of still water to help flush out the toxins that have been liberated due to the treatment and also to remain hydrated
- Keep relaxed and warm, do not attempt any vigorous exercise
- Eat a light meal so that the body’s energy stores are not utilised on digestion but on repair and recuperation
- Try to avoid smoking, alcohol, caffeine and other stimulants for at least 12 hours post treatment
- Always drink a glass of water before bed and on waking in the morning
- Try to follow a healthy diet as this helps maintain a healthy body and mind
- Try to use gentle skin and hair care products to prevent the stripping away of natural oils (try and avoid Parabens and Sodium Lauryl Sulphate)
- Protect your skin and hair from UV radiation with UV filter products
- Use a pumice stone to remove hard skin from the feet
- Have regular treatments to continue the benefits of Reflexology
- A course of treatments are recommended for certain conditions such as fertility, chronic skin disorders, chronic joint conditions, IBS.
- Your GP may be consulted for consent prior to treatment if you have certain conditions
What are contra-actions?
They are reactions to the treatment used on the body.
What reactions can occur?
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Increased thirst
- Increased urination
- Aching muscles
- Interrupted sleep
The above reactions, if they occur, should not last for more than 24 hours.
